Intimate partner abuse is the leading cause of public health problems, globally affecting over 2 million women and 800,000 men. It is the major cause of injury, homelessness and death including murder. The statistics of those affected by domestic violence from across the world is worrisome: domestic violence occurs in over 20% of current adult relationships, with women being a victim. How does it affect health? Domestic violence has a significant effect and consequences on health. It could lead to anxiety, depression, and other abuse disorder. Violent abuse of pregnant women can lead to the delivery of babies with low-birth-weight. Children of victim can suffer a declined intellectual functioning.
