Ulcerative colitis is a long term condition that causes internal bleeding due to the inflammation of the large intestine. Approximately, ulcer affects 1 in every 429 people in the world. The ulcer can develop at any stage, but people between the ages of 15-25 have a higher risk of having one. Globally, and according to research, ulcerative colitis is more prevalent among whites (European background) and Africans. People from Asia background have fewer chances of having one. Considering gender-wise distribution, ulcers are equally prevalent in both men and women. The ulcer can lead to the following:
  • Frequent diarrhea which usually contains blood or mucus.
  • Abdominal pain
  • Fatigue and severe tiredness
