Yoga for diabetes

Yoga can easily cure a host of ailments. It stimulates the organs thereby improving the metabolic activities. Yoga helps in balancing the endocrine system and thereby controls the blood sugar level.  It massages and tones the abdominal organs and harmonizes the body, mind and breath. Yoga also stimulates your circulatory as well as nervous system.

Here are 3 yoga postures that diabetics must surely follow:

  • Balasana (Child’s pose): Get to a kneeling position while making sure that your knees are hip-width apart. Get your hips to touch your heels. Lean forward and rest your forehead to the floor. Stretch your arms straight while joining your palms. Remain in this pose for about 5 minutes. Relax and breathe fully. This posture helps in releasing neck pain, stress and fatigue.
  • Vajrasana: Sit on the floor comfortably with your legs stretched out by keeping the hands on the sides of your body. Bend your knees and sit on your hips. Try to keep your soles close to each other. Place your palm on your knees and keep your back and spine, entirely straight. Now balance your body and breathe normally.
  • Viparita Karani (Legs-up-the-wall pose): To get to this position, sit straight on a blanket or yoga mat facing a wall. Slowly let your feet climb the wall as you gradually lie on your back. Make sure your legs are straight on the wall. You will create a 90 degree like posture. Doing this will put pressure on your core muscles and this will make them fit and you healthier.

Practicing yoga on a daily basis can help you in a big way to manage and control your diabetes. So, don’t wait! Go, grab your yoga mat now and take this important step towards reversing diabetes.
