Diet

Your diet is the game-changer, whether you are trying to lose or gain weight. And opposed to what a lot of us would like to believe, eating chocolates, burgers, pizzas isn’t the way to gain weight. No. You still need to stay away from this stuff.

Instead, it is recommended that your diet should include the following:

Healthy carbs and fats: Carbs- and fat-rich diet is the easiest and healthiest way to gain weight. Carbs give you energy, fats give you the calories. Here’s a list of food items that must definitely be a part of your daily diet:

They are known to stimulate your appetite, so you’ll eat more than otherwise. Eating a small piece of ginger before every meal will get your digestive juices flowing. This also betters the absorption of nutrients in your body. So, you aren’t just eating more, but you are also eating healthier.

Proteins: Proteins are the building blocks if you want to build muscle. Eating enough proteins makes sure that you gain weight in muscle and not in fat; excess calories from a protein-rich diet are stored in the muscle. The best time to eat your protein is just after your workout; this is when your body is building more muscle.

Herbs: Chamomile is one of the best herbs to increase your appetite, and chamomile tea is a pretty good way to make sure this herb makes its way into your system. Ashwagandha is another ingredient that’ll help you to build on the muscle mass. In fact, ashwagandha’s effects are known to last for far longer even after you’ve discontinued its use. Chen Pi is dried orange peel, another supplement known for boosting your appetite.

Exercise

If you thought that you don’t need to exercise to gain weight, you are mistaken. To gain weight in a healthy way, healthy being the operative word, you need to improve your metabolism, which isn’t happening without exercise.

It is highly recommended that you start on a strength training program, instead of focusing on cardio, when you switch to a weight gain diet. With regular exercise and a proper diet, the results will be faster and for longer.

Sleep

Let’s not ignore the fact that your body needs adequate rest, no matter what health goal you are setting out to fulfill. You, obviously, need to sleep well at night—try and get the suggested 8 hours of sleep—but an afternoon nap is also highly recommended. In fact, 45 minutes-1 hour of napping in the afternoon is said to be one of the fastest ways to gain weight.
