Did you say Theta meditation?

15 Jul, 2019

The definition of meditation is completely different in the west than the east of the world. Meditation is an ancient practice done by monks to attain the higher purpose of life and find enlightenment. Though, the modern meaning has gotten it to a state where mediation is a state of complete awareness and a very effective tool to attain mindfulness and recover from anxiety and depression. A new term has become quite famous these days known as  Theta meditation. While many must have heard about it, a very few know what it exactly is. So, let’s find out what exactly this mystic meditation technique can get for you.

What is theta meditation?

The theta state is a state of deep meditation and the difference lies in the brain waves that are created in this state. Usually, our brain waves range from 14- 30 Hz per second, also known as the beta state or the awake normal state but in the theta state, the brain waves go as low as 4- 8 Hz. Which is as good as a sleeping state where your mind can tap into the deep subconscious and open the doors to creativity, peace, and awakening.

Theta is a state of deep meditation, it is the state we are in before we start dreaming or drift towards deep sleep. It is a journey towards the subconscious, creativity, and intuition and with practice, you can control the way you reach this state of complete trance and get to higher levels of your being.

In this state, we can heal ourselves, reach higher consciousness levels, achieve muscle relaxation, connect to the higher intuitive regions, improve creativity and focus. You can dig as deep as you want and get to the innermost layers to heal your soul and connect to the higher powers to enter your mind and body to show you the ways to greatness.

A few other benefits are listed below:

      Get you towards deep relaxation

      Reduces anxiety

      A solution to depression

A complete healing process for mind, body, and soul

Improves the health of your heart

      Intuition gets stronger

A feeling of connecting to the subconscious is felt deeply and strongly

A hold of the unconscious mind is achieved

A door to creativity and wit is opened which is beyond this world

An emotional connect is built with nature

Connection to the higher power is felt

How the theta state can be achieved?

Usually, theta meditation is a way to achieve the theta state of mind and a practitioner of Guru can help you reach there. But to bring a person with high or anxiety into a calm state like this can be really a task. Hence, other methods like hypnosis and the use of music or therapy are used sometimes to sober down the energy first, then slowly enter the state of meditation and then deeper meditation.

A great way to handle a situation like this is taking the help of theta wave music. Our brains and bodies react very aggressively to music and hence making someone listen to a particular wavelength of music can get them into the same frequency as of the music. According to a study, it is proven that binaural beats help the brain synchronize with the lower frequencies and hence help an individual calm down and reach the theta state.

Now, there are many ways to attain the theta state of mind but the most useful one is practice. It will take a lot of hard work and concentration for you to reach a state of deep meditation but it is not impossible. According to an independent study, it was found that around 70% of the people who have never practiced meditation ever in their lives could get themselves in the theta state if they make it a must to meditate daily for at least an hour or more.

Like anything, it won’t come easy to you but in the end, you will realize that it was all worth it. We all are created with all the greatness, it’s up to us how much we can work towards finding it and putting it in use. Theta meditation is a great way to connect to the most inner layers of yourself and identify the magic we keep looking everywhere else.
