Ashtanga Yoga as described by Patanjali in the Yoga sutras is the “eight-limbs of Yoga”. This consists of practices that include internal and external purification processes, such as Yamas, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. This is an all-inclusive way of life as the cleansing is believed to bring one closer to the Universal Self.
